Publication of the new GS1 Benelux datamodel DIY, garden & pet (May 2026)

The new version of the GS1 Benelux data model for the DIY, garden & pet sector (3.1.35.1) has been published. It will go live on 16 May 2026. Retailers will receive data according to the new data model from then on. Suppliers should therefore ensure that any changes have been implemented by then.

Most common error messages and solutions

Key changes:

  • Updates to code lists to record Recupel and Ecotrel information.
  • Extension of code lists for hazardous substances and addition of an attribute to record the physical state of the product.
  • Addition of several attributes to enable price comparison per fixed unit (for example price per kg).
  • Adjustment of the method for recording the repairability index for the Belgian target market.
  • Updates to the instructions for recording packaging.
  • Activation of GPC bricks for assortments of chisels/gouges, protective covers for lawn/garden, trackers, medicine cabinets and water toys.
     

Expired attributes

As of 16 May, certain attributes will be discontinued. These attributes were defined in the past, but the needs of suppliers and retailers have changed over time or the data is now exchanged in a different way. For some of these discontinued attributes, replacement attributes are available. These can be found in the published data model.

The discontinued attributes include:

  • Expected lifespan, where we align with attributes that are now available internationally.
