Publication of the new GS1 Benelux FMCG & Foodservice data model (May 2026)
The new version of the GS1 Benelux data model for the FMCG & Foodservice sector (3.1.35) has been published. It will go live on 16 May 2026. Retailers will receive data according to the new data model from then on. Suppliers should therefore ensure that any changes have been implemented by then.
New and modified fields
- Several attributes related to packaging information are modified. Instructions and conditions have been clarified and aligned with business needs. The terminology is standardised for the different packaging attributes.
- The instructions of the attribute “Net content” (netContent) are modified. The value “PR” (pair) is added as an option for products that are always sold in pairs, and the value “1N” (number) for products sold individually.
- The attribute “Physical state code” (physicalStateCode) is added. This attribute is used to indicate the state of the trade item in which it is stored, transported or sold.
Global Changes
- A global set of attributes is now available to share the repairability index: Sustainability programme code, Sustainability value and Sustainability score. These attributes replace the local repairability index attribute.
New and updated validations
- Several validation rules related to packaging are modified in line with the updated instructions.
- Existing Dutch validations related to battery information are activated in Belgium and Luxembourg.
