Publication of the new GS1 Benelux datamodel DIY, garden & pet (August 2026)

The new version of the GS1 Benelux data model for the DIY, garden & pet sector (3.1.36) has been published. It will go live on 22 August 2026. Retailers will receive data according to the new data model from then on. Suppliers should therefore ensure that any changes have been implemented by then.

Key changes:

  • As part of data quality improvements, values have been added to various code lists to prevent the selection of “other”. Wherever possible, the “other” option has been removed.
  • Various attributes have been changed from mandatory to optional, or even decoupled from the relevant GPC brick, in areas where “other” was predominantly used.
  • The procedure for recording the EPREL ID has been updated. From now on, the GDSN attribute for additional product information must be used.
  • The temporary “EPREL ID” attribute will be discontinued in the next release.
  • Definitions and instructions for recording packaging data used in the calculation of the Green Score have been updated. For example, clarification has been provided on the circumstances in which values such as “Recycled”, “Bio-based plastic”, and similar terms may be used.
  • GPC bricks 10008138, 10005209, 10001097 and 10006781 have been activated for recording handheld vacuum cleaners, kitchen storage parts/accessories, luggage/bag/umbrella accessories, and non-powered tweezers (DIY).

Expired attributes

As of 22 August, the temporary attribute “Repairability Index” will be discontinued. It has been replaced by the international attribute “Sustainability Value”.
