Building sustainable logistics through trusted collaborative networks
NexTrust is a 30 member consortium of some of Europe’s leading thinkers on collaborative logistics. The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Its objective is to increase efficiency and sustainability in logistics by developing an innovative business model with interconnected, trusted, collaborative networks along the entire supply chain. These trusted networks, built horizontally and vertically, will fully integrate shippers, LSPs and intermodal operators as equal partners. To reach a high level of sustainability, NexTrust will as one trigger bundle and consolidate freight volumes and as another trigger shift them off the road to intermodal rail and waterways.
GS1/ECR Belgium & Luxembourg fulfills the role of Work Package Leader and coordinates a number of pilot cases. Below you can find a short video of 2 pilots that were realized within the NexTrust Consortium.
Multi Supplier – Multi Retailer platform: Four major Belgian biscuits suppliers consolidate their deliveries to four Belgian retail stores to reduce truck movements and to increase the truck’s fill rate.
The Cool Running Collaboration: This pilot aims to consolidate multiple deliveries of these products onto fully electric refrigerated (1 to 5◦C) vehicles to reduce congestion and toxic emissions in London.
